“Mawanga, Mjura, Marlyin Chakwera and myself did a project with the Norwegian Embassy in Malawi that is focused on promoting Malawi’s forgotten music. We subsequently recorded a 10-track album which won the hearts of the organisers of the Arts Festival of Northern Norway, securing us a spot at the annual festival in Harstad and later in Zanzibar,” said Mussa.

Peter Mawanga has come to be known as the "Voice of the Voiceless." A champion for Malawi's underprivileged youth, Mawanga has composed several socially conscious songs in a genre that predominantly melds three of Malawi's regional cultures. Together since 2007, Peter Mawanga and The Amaravi Movement bring together Malawian instrumentation, jazz guitar, marimba rhythms and singing in Chichewa to create traditional melodies and rhythms that Mawanga calls Afro-vibes.
